Barry M. Pryor

Professor in Plant Pathology and Mycology, School of Plant Sciences at University of Arizona

Dr. Pryor’s research program focuses on basic and applied aspects of mycology including mechanisms of plant pathogenesis and management of fungal disease in field, tree, and vegetable crops; fungal community composition in native and agricultural ecosystems, effects of fungal aeroallergens on respiratory disease; and advancing commercial mushroom production through substrate optimization, improving environmental controls, and new product development.

Over the past 21 years, Dr. Pryor has mentored more than 140 undergraduates, 15 graduate students, and 5 postdoctoral scholars who have contributed to project objectives resulting in 74 peer-reviewed publications and numerous articles of general mycological interest.
